Using a Cloth Face Covering in Public Places

Following the latest guidance from the CDC, Multnomah County health officials recommend that you wear cloth face coverings in public, such as grocery stores and pharmacies. The CDC is not recommending you stock up and use surgical masks. Please reserve those for healthcare workers.

A scarf, bandana, shirt, or towel will do. Any type of cloth that will completely cover your mouth is okay. What we know about this virus continues to develop as we learn more from patients being treated. Many of you who are healthy could have the virus and don't know it. A face cover is a preventive action we can all take to stop the transmission.
