We’re living in a new world, and it has been fascinating to watch how we’re all adapting to our unprecedented existence. Technology is playing a major role in keeping us all connected. I find it interesting that at a time when we’re being asked to physically distance, we may actually be growing closer socially. Various apps and softwares are making it possible to go for a “digital” walk with a friend, to connect with colleagues who might be hundreds of miles away, or play board games over the phone with grandchildren. Perhaps more importantly, much of our work world is able to keep moving with today’s technology. In the first two weeks of the Stay Home, Save Lives order, I was suddenly in dozens of digital meetings, conducting business as usual with colleagues and partners, and keeping the City of Portland moving. These truly are unprecedented times, and I’m thankful that we also have technology to help us get through this together.
