Mayor Welcomes new Deputy Chief of Staff

The Office of Mayor Ted Wheeler is pleased to announce that Sonia Schmanski will join his team as Deputy Chief of Staff.

Schmanski brings more than a decade of experience in City Hall, having served in the office of Commissioner Nick Fish for nearly 12 years, including the past five years as Chief of Staff. She is also a life-long Portlander and a proud Grant High School General.

“I’m honored to serve in City Hall, and excited to join Mayor Wheeler’s hardworking team,” Schmanski said. “Mayor Wheeler’s office is leading important conversations about big issues that will shape our community’s future, and I look forward to supporting them and the rest of the City Council as we tackle this work together.”

“Sonia is an experienced and respected presence in City Hall, and I am pleased to welcome her to the team. It was a pleasure working with her as Chief of Staff to Commissioner Fish, and I look forward to her continued leadership,” Mayor Wheeler said.

Schmanski’s first day will be Monday, March 2, 2020.
