The offices of Mayor Ted Wheeler and Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty are hosting a community conversation about the City’s upcoming contract negotiations with the Portland Police Association (PPA). The goal of the event is to educate the public about the collective bargaining process, to listen to their thoughts and concerns and to gather their input to help ensure the contract best serves the interests and welfare of the public. City attorneys will also be present to share guidelines and offer background on the current contract that is set to expire in June 2020.

Upon arriving, attendees will be asked to indicate their top priority for consideration during the drafting of a new contract. The top three issues will be discussed by attending community members in facilitated conversation groups. Dedicated note takers will capture each group’s conversation and priorities to share with those involved in the city’s negotiations with the PPA.

Community members planning to attend are asked to RSVP here using this link so we can better plan for and accommodate the community’s needs at the event. For those unable to attend who would still like to be heard, please click on this link to share your feedback online with the city.

ASL, Spanish interpretation and childcare available.
