Using authority granted to local jurisdictions by the State legislature, the City of Portland enacted a new Residential Demolition Ordinance that created a first-of-its-kind program to address potential impacts from residential demolitions on neighboring properties, effective July 1, 2018.
On March 1, 2020 the new regulations approved through the Better Housing by Design project will take effect. The previous multi-dwelling zoning on the zoning map (R3, R2, R1, and RH) will be changed to new designations (RM1, RM2, RM3, RM4) as part of this project.
On February 10, 2020, the City of Portland will start using a new version of AMANDA, the software used to manage the permitting process. As we transition to upgraded AMANDA software, our services will be available according to the schedule below.
